5. The Living Liquid Machine

How awesome would it be to have that placed in the middle of your living room.  It would be one hell of a conversation starter! Now YOU can break the laws of physics too!

Price: $20,000
SuperBadassness: 3/5 – What use would this really have?

4. Microsoft Surface Computer

Yeah.. that’s pretty much awesome any way you slice it.  My question is, is what happens when you spill coffee on it?  Even better, you can use PAINTBRUSHES with it… that right, it’s sensitive enough to pick up brush strokes. WTF. Outside of being a novelty item, what uses would it really have?

Price: ??? Probably around $20,000-$40,000.
SuperBadassness: 4/5 – Just think if you could hack this!

3. CineMassive Video Wall

I wish I could have this… It’s ridiculously unnecessary.  BTW, this is hooked up to a computer, not just some video playing.  Just think how many browser windows you could have open?!

Price: Wouldn’t return my phone call.
SuperBadassness: 3/5 – Would be fun, but probably not very practice.

2. DARPA’s Big Dog

I would take this with me everywhere.  The looks I get would be priceless. Want to go hiking…?  I’ll just bust out my pack-mule-creepy-robot.  BTW,  did you see that…? He kicks it and it still stands.  The stuff we’re doing with robotics nowadays is unbelievable.  IT JUMPS!

Price: Unavailable. (It’s part of DARPA, come on…)
SuperBadassness: 4/5 – I would make it a carnival attraction… see who can take down the mechanical horse.

1. Theo Jansen’s Animaris Rhinoceros Transport

The first time that I saw this, I didn’t think that it was real.  This thing is built completely out of cheap plastic, and moves without any electricity.  That’s right, it’s wind powered.  He builds these “kinetic sculptures” and places them on the beaches in the Netherlands.  Apparently, he builds them so well that they manage to avoid the water.  They will just forever roam until they break.  Want to get one?  Me too. “The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds,” Theo Jansen.

Price: 5 finger discout + shipping.
SuperBadassness: 5/5
